Remedial/Sports Massage Therapist - Graham Maxwell

What is a Remedial Massage?

“Remedial massage is the assessment and treatment of dysfunctional posture / movement patterns, which can cause acute or chronic myofascial pain”.

Along with the treatment of pain and discomfort, clients seek treatment for the relief of headaches and migraines, back and neck pain, increase in range of motion and flexibility, stress reduction, improves post-surgery recovery and scaring complications just to name a few.

Your therapist Graham will go through your health history, ask you a couple of questions that he feels could be relevant to the cause of your issue and get you to do a few movements along with a quick postural check if required prior to and after the treatment.

If Graham feels you have a lack of strength in a part of your body, which could be contributing towards your pain or discomfort, he will prescribe some easily achieved exercises and stretches you can do at home or in the gym, these will be tailored to your current situation.

What is a Sports Massage?

“A Sports massage has many similarities to Remedial Massage and is tailored to your situation to keep you on the top of your game.”

During the assessment, Graham will discuss with you about your sport/s or activities and where you feel you may have a drop in performance, are consistently feeling tight even though you regularly stretch, feels like you’re always injuring or straining yourself or you just can’t get to that next level.

Maybe you just need a bit of ‘maintenance’ to keep you performing at your peak and stay injury free.

The following treatment techniques may also be used during your consultation.

  • Myofascial and functional release cupping
  • Dry needling
  • IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation)
  • Rocktaping
  • Neurolymphatic reflexes
